What to Expect on Sunday Morning
We're so glad that you're considering Church of the Redeemer! We'd love for you to join us on Sunday morning for Sunday school at 9:00 a.m. and for the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Here’s a little bit about what you can expect when you come.
Come As You Are
We have a rather casual atmosphere, so you will certainly not be alone if you come in jeans. You also won’t be alone if you want to dress up a bit more, so just come as you are!
Our congregation represents the many peoples, cultures, and ages of Union County. We are a diverse, multigenerational group of real people, who try to be real with one another and before our God.
Visitor Parking
When you come, feel free to use the visitor parking area closest to the main entrance to the school. Greeters will meet you at the door to welcome you, answer any questions you may have, and to direct you to where you want to go.
Worship Service
Our worship service starts at 10:30 a.m. and lasts about 80 minutes. It takes place in the auditorium straight ahead of you when you come in the building through the main lobby. We have a non-traditional worship service that's a blend of the old and the new. We have biblical sermons with real-life application. We sing the best of the modern worship songs and the traditional hymns, often using new arrangements of traditional hymns. We like to call it Ancient Cool. Our worship band typically includes acoustic and electric guitars, drums, bass guitar, violin, and keyboard.
Partway through the service, children ages three through 2nd grade (3rd through 5th graders as well on the 1st and 3rd Sundays) will be dismissed for Children’s Worship. For children under three, Nursery is available during the entire worship service. Toddlers and 2’s have Bible time, hands-on activities, and simple songs in Nursery. Please check in your children at the Redeemer Kids Welcome Station in the “2nd lobby” (the secondary front entrance about halfway down the building) at the beginning of the service, and we will show you where to go. Visit the Redeemer Kids page for more details.
Sunday School (Discipleship & Life)
Please join us before the worship service at 9:00 a.m. for Sunday school classes, which we call Discipleship & Life. A board posted outside the auditorium lists the various class offerings and classroom numbers for everyone: kids, teenagers, and adults. For more details, including a listing of current class offerings, see the Sunday school (D&L) page.
KidVenture! is a fun and engaging program that includes interactive Bible lessons, activities, and music for children 2 years – 5th grade during the Discipleship & Life hour. Nursery care for infants through 23 months is also available during this time. Parents will need to sign in children at the Redeemer Kids Welcome Station (located in the “2nd lobby”). Visit the Redeemer Kids page for more details.
Middle and high schoolers also meet in their own classes during Discipleship & Life. These classes are designed to combine in-depth biblical studies with creative lessons and exciting games. Learn more about our youth ministry on our Redeemer Youth page.
Discipleship & Life classrooms, Redeemer Kids activities, and bathrooms are all down the hallway to your right once you enter the building through the main lobby. Oh, and if you're wondering what's going on down the other hallway on the left: that's our hispanic church plant, Iglesia del Redentor. They meet in the cafeteria for fellowship and worship on Sunday mornings as well.
