Redeemer Youth Core Values

A ministry to both youth and families
We desire not only to serve the youth of the church, but also to involve, equip, and support the parents of youths at Church of the Redeemer. We believe that God first calls the parents to be the ones to teach and train their own children in godliness (Deuteronomy 6:4-7; Proverbs 22:5, 12; Ephesians 6:1-4). Therefore, it is our goal in Redeemer Youth to do all that we can to help our parents in their own “youth ministry.” We desire to facilitate what parents are already doing in the home and to encourage and equip them to raise up their children in the truth and love of the gospel.

A ministry of Christ-centered discipleship
Paul writes, “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2).  Our message, like Paul’s, is NOT how to become a better parent or youth, how to follow all of the rules, or how to succeed in life. Our message IS that Christ lived, died, and rose again for all that would receive him. Our message is that Christ’s work is powerful and effective for our salvation AND our new life in him. Is this truth practical and applicable for youth? Absolutely! There is no better way to make godly decisions, to face peer pressure and temptations, and to show love (and patience) to our friends and family members than to be reminded of God’s gracious gift of salvation and new life. As we are reminded of this grace, we are then motivated by love and thankfulness to go out and live a life of obedience to God. And this life of obedience is all-encompassing - it involves life at church, at school, at practice, or at home.

A ministry of Christ-centered fellowship
According to scripture, the church is the “body of Christ” (1 Corinthians 12:12-31). As a part of Church of the Redeemer, Redeemer Youth seeks to promote this idea of oneness as a part of the body of Christ. And so, we focus on fellowship - having a real sense of community where you are cared for, supported, encouraged, and challenged in your life with Christ. Redeemer Youth encourages real fun and fellowship so that we would experience the blessings of being a part of God’s family and the joy that is to be found in Christ, and that we would be motivated to live a life that is pleasing to God.

A ministry of Christ-centered outreach
As Christians, we have the privilege and responsibility of taking the good news of Christ to those who don’t have a personal relationship with him. Faith in our savior Jesus Christ is the only way to be reconciled to God - the only way to be saved from our sin, from the wrath of God, and from eternal punishment. In Redeemer Youth, we seek to fulfill this responsibility of evangelism in two ways. First, we seek to encourage, challenge, and enable our youth individually to share the good news of Christ with those they interact with each day. Secondly, we do outreach as a group through community events, service projects, and mission trips.
